Rachis

Axis of a compound leaf upon which the leaflets are attached; central axis of an inflorescence

Rattan

A climbing palm (especially of the genera Calamus and Daemonorops), similar to bamboo but solid throughout. It has very long tough stems, commonly known as cane and often used in wickerwork and many other products.

Recurved

Bent or curved downward or backward

Reed

Medium sized plants, having thin walled culms

Reflexed

Abruptly bent backwards

Reniform

Shaped like a kidney

Retention

Amount of preservatives loaded in the bamboo

Rhizome

An underground stem or portion of a stem with nodes and internodes, bearing scale leaves and usually rooting at the nodes.

Rhizome Neck

Constricted portion of the rhizome which links the thicker portions

Root Primordium

Root in its initial stage of development
