Technology packages for processing of shoots at a commercial scale for the market, at different scales of activity – from 200 – 2000 TPA
Working with labaratories and testing institutions, ERG Bangalore has standardised processing and packaging technologies for industrial scale and entrprenurial activity, using one or more forms of packaging - including canning and multi-layer film, and covering a range of product forms - salted, dried, in brine, and in fresh water.
Technology packages, for different scales of entrprenurial activity, are now available.
The nutritional composition of shoots of different species was also evaluated. Organoleptic testing was an important part of the activities carried out; this also resulted in cuisne development for a wider range of Indian tastes.
A market assessment survey carried out under the project has confirmed the large potential for processed bamboo shoots in India.
