Standards

A Standard is a document established on the basis of consensus, expert review and consultation and approved by an authorised agency to provide rules, guidelines, or characteristics for products and applications, and their use in economic, commercial and societal application.

By law (Bureau of Indian Standards Act 1986), the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the authority in India to establish such standards.
