Indian Plywood Industries Research and Training Institute, (IPIRTI), Bangalore

The following facilities are available at IPIRTI:

  1. Adhesive technology lab with panel manufacturing facilities equipped with preparation and testing facilities having instruments for analysis of raw materials and preservative chemicals in wood and panel materials.
  2. Preservation lab with facilities to carry out research for evaluation of borers and fungi, termites, identification of wood and adhesives in wood based panels
  3. Panel testing lab for testing of timber, wood panels and other lignocellulosic materials
  4. Pilot plant for plywood is equipped with machinery for undertaking research leading to production of plywood panels
  5. Modern facility for saw doctoring for maintenance of all types of saws
  6. The technology for commercialisation for manufacture of adhesives.
  7. The technology for bamboo composites and products – Bamboo Mat Board, Bamboo Mat Veneer Composite, Bamboo Mat Moulded Trays, Bamboo Mat corrugated Sheets, Bamboo Wood (laminates), match sticks and designs for affordable bamboo housing.

IPIRTI has standardised the process technology for making bamboo boards for the NMBA.
