Habitat & distribution
Found chiefly in the north - eastern part of the country. It grows best on low hills and in undulating countryside.

Culm
Culms arise singly from the rhizome at a distance.

Flowering
Gregarious. Flowering cycle is about 40-44years.

Uses
Used in the construction of houses and for making woven products. An important source for paper pulp.
