Genotype
The internally coded and inherited information carried by all organisms; this is used for building and maintaining a living creature
Genus
The smallest natural group containing distinct species
Genus(Genera)
Taxonomic category; smallest natural group (groups) containing different species
Girdle
The often swollen and persistent band of tissue inserted circumaxially at the node of some bamboos.
Glabrous
Smooth and without hairs, like the “skin’ of the tomato or apple.
Glaucous
Covered with a removable white or blue, waxy coating on the surface as in dark purple plums or grapes.
Glume
Modified leaf or bract of the bamboo subtending a grass spikelet or pseudospikelet.
Gregarious flowering
When all the culms in a clump and all the clumps in an area of more than 5 hectares flower and subsequently die after seed setting, the phenomenon is called as gregarious flowering.
Ground Tissue
The tissue that forms the culm, consisting of parenchyma cells and vascular bundles
